Unlocking Better Client Communication Insights from the 2025 Industry Trends Report

Effective communication with clients has become one of the biggest challenges facing accounting firms today. Accountants are expected to be responsive, precise, and collaborative while keeping operations smooth and efficient. Yet, many firms struggle to strike this balance. To tackle this pressing issue, Mango Practice Management and Woodard have teamed up to deliver the 2025 Industry Trends Report, “Tackling the Client Communication Problem,” providing accountants with fresh insights and practical solutions.

Accounting Industry Trends Report

Explore 2024 study uses various data sources to provide insights about technology, client communication, and collaboration in the accounting industry.

Based on a survey of nearly 300 accounting professionals, the report uncovers the communication challenges that accountants face, with document collection topping the list. A striking 69% of firms report delays in receiving necessary documents, while 64% struggle with scope creep and 46% with setting client expectations. These obstacles underscore the need for streamlined, strategic communication to avoid lost time, missed deadlines, and dissatisfied clients.

The report doesn’t just outline the problems; it highlights the solutions that are making a difference. Firms leveraging technology, such as client portals and workflow automation, are seeing impressive results: 80% experience notable time savings, and 61% report enhanced client communication. Yet, surprisingly, less than a third of firms are fully utilizing tools like CRM systems or automated reminders—revealing a significant opportunity for those ready to invest in technology.

With this report, accountants and bookkeepers can benchmark their communication practices, adopt proven strategies, and implement tools to boost efficiency and client satisfaction.
